On Your Team: young people's experiences in sport

This is an Expression of Interest form (EOI), and we will contact you if you are selected for the project.

Background:

Vic Sport and Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) have gotten together to create 2 workshops to understand why young people are dropping out of sports and how we can improve these spaces so that young people keep playing sport.

In the workshops, you'll share your ideas on ways we can make sports safer and more fun, help us design an ideal sporting environment and share your experience in sports or why you've never joined one before!

The opportunity:

YACVic will run one online workshop and one in person workshop that will have up to 12 young people (aged 12 - 17) with a diverse range of identities and backgrounds.

You will draw on your lived experience, unique perspectives and expertise in these workshops.

 We will explore:

  • Why you joined or didn't join a sport

  • Ways to help young people feel connected, safe and belonging in sports

  • Your dream sporting environment

  • Ways sports can make young people feel connected

The workshops will be:

  • Workshop 1: 18 November, 5pm – 7pm, on Zoom

  • Workshop 2: 21 November, 10:30am – 3:30pm, at Sports House, 375 Albert Rd, Albert Park VIC 3206

You can fill in this form to express your interest if you:

  • Are ages 12 – 17 years old

  • Keen to share your experience of after school sport in primary school or high school

  • Passionate about sharing your ideas of how to make sporting teams and clubs are engaging for young people.

Contact us if you have any questions about the process or the project.

You can email a video or audio file to FStirling@YACVic.org.au

The next few questions will ask a little more about you and why you want to be part of the workshops.
